Google Earth

Google Earth is an interactive way for students to access and gain information in an interactive setting. Students can individually or work in small groups to research information such as maps, explore ancient towns like Rome (Google Lit Trips) and explore local or global sites.

Scribble maps can be used to overlay the map with a grid which can then be used in maths for such topics as measurement. Using the overlay sites can be measured in kilometers.
Students may wish to explore each others addresses and look at what it is like where the children within the class live. This could then be used with an educational setting to create birds eye view maps.
This tool is very easy to use and caters for a variety of learners as the information presented is multimodal.
